Welcome to my website. I’m a PhD candidate in the Graduate Program in Humanities at York University in Toronto where I research the intersections between the interdisciplinary fields sound studies and trans studies, and the philosophy of Jean-François Lyotard.
Through my work I am affiliated with York’s Centre for Feminist Research and its Critical Femininities Research Cluster as a graduate research associate. Additionally, I am a member of York’s Sensorium: Centre for Digital Arts and Technology and the Advocacy and Development Humanities Organizing Committee (ADHoC – formerly HUGSA).
Some of my recent publications include chapter contributions to Smash the System: Punk Anarchism as a Culture of Resistance (December 2022) and The Dialectics of Liberation in Dark Times: Marcuse’s Thought in the Neoliberal Era (October 2023).
Through my roles a community organizer, I am also involved in many different projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area, notably related to LGBTQ issues which have included board and committee roles with organizations such as PFLAG Canada – Durham Region, Pride Durham, Queerstock Canada, the Trans Fund of York University, and most recently, Durham Pride Prom.
As a writer and blogger, I have covered various topics for media outlets in the past such as The Lemon Life, theBuzz, Gay Star News, and Queer in the 21st Century.
Prior to coming to York, I attended Carleton University, completing an honours BA in music (minoring in philosophy) with a diploma in sonic design, and California State University at Dominguez Hills, where I received an MA in humanities with the thesis, Illuminating Postmodern Elements in the Music of John Cage.
I also work on occasional music projects such as soundtrack work, and performing as a session musician, and solo as singer-songwriter.
As a resident of the Church-Wellesley Village in Toronto, I can often be found out and about at various community events, concerts, and libraries or coffee shops, where I tend to be most productive.
